March 1, 2022 marked 150 years for Yellowstone National Park. Most of you know the park was established by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872 so with our post we wanted to look deeper into some of the stranger less know Yellowstone facts.

•Half the world’s hydrothermal features are found at Yellowstone. Yellowstone National Park preserves more than 10,000 hydrothermal features.

•Old Faithful isn’t as reliable as its name. Old Faithfuls eruptions aren’t exactly always on schedule but still decently close.

•Yellowstone is a supervolcano. One of the world’s largest active volcanoes lies beneath Yellowstone.

•Yellowstone is home to the largest concentration of mammals in the lower 48.  •Yellowstone has its own Grand Canyon. Created by erosion from the Yellowstone River, the canyon is more than 1,000 feet deep, 1,500-4,000 feet wide and roughly 20 miles long

•There are more than 290 waterfalls located within Yellowstone. We hope you’ve enjoyed. Have a great day and plan your next vacation by visiting Yellowstone National Park and make sure to stop by the Montana side of the park.
