On Monday, September 27th 2021, a 10 car train was on its way to Seattle. 3 people were killed and others were injured when the derailment happened near Joplin, Montana. It happened right before 4:00 p.m. local time. 146 passengers and 13 crew members on the locomotive heading west. They are still determining what caused this accident. Less than 2% of all train accidents are due to derailments.
